applying to the university of manitoba
or university of winnipeg

  • The U of M and U of W have an early admission date of March 1st using self-reported grades and where you can receive conditional admittance as long as you meet the high school course prerequisites.

  • Make sure you have your Manitoba Education Number (MET)
  • The marks that will be reviewed by the U of M and U of W for conditional admission are your Grade 12 February report card marks.
  • You will not be required to send your transcript to either the U of M or U of W as the universities will request them directly from SMA - unless you apply late (AFTER March 1st)

  • Final admission status is based solely on your Grade 12 June report card.
  • Receiving conditional admission often requires that you maintain a certain academic average (read the fine print in your conditional offer as they differ by school and program).
  • Both the U of M and U of W are great schools, they offer very different environments for learning and different educational programming. The U of M is significantly larger, offering more online and summer session courses, as well as degrees in professional faculties (medicine, dentistry, engineering, architecture etc). U of W offers a fantastic new science building with state-of-the-art lab facilities, small class sizes, and is ranked one of Canada's best undergraduate degree programs.

  • There are numerous opportunities to tour both campuses, I strongly suggest you take those opportunities!
