Manitoba Student Grants
The Manitoba Bursary
  • The Manitoba Bursary is a loan reduction award, funded by the Government of Manitoba. The funds from this bursary reduce the amount of Manitoba Student Loan (MSL) debt a student accumulates annually.
  • The Manitoba Bursary is applied directly to a student’s MSL debt by the middle of September each year, following the verification of satisfactory progress in their approved course of study. Students in graduate programs, professional programs or studying at Private Vocational Institutions outside of Manitoba are not eligible.

The eligibility threshold for the Manitoba Bursary loan limit is determined each year based on two things:
  • The total budget for the loan reduction program, and
  • The number of eligible students.
NOTE: Eligibility requirements for the Manitoba Bursary vary year to year and are not guaranteed. Only borrowers of a MSL are eligible to receive a Manitoba Bursary.

Rural/Northern Bursary
The Manitoba government is funding a new bursary which will provide Rural and Northern students with an additional $600 to help off-set the increased costs of accessing their education.
You are automatically considered for this bursary when you complete an application for Canada/Manitoba Student Loans.
